Biographical Sketch

Dr. Milton Klein was born August 15, 1917 in New York City. He studied history at The City College of New York and during World War II was stationed with the United States Army Air Corps 14th Air Force in the China-Burma-India Theater. After the war, Dr. Klein remained with the United States Air Force Reserve, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Klein had a number of teaching jobs, before joining the faculty at the University of Tennessee in 1969. He received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and retired from official duties in 1985. He continued to serve as the University of Tennessee's historian. Dr. Klein passed away June 10, 2004 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Abstract

Dr. Milton Klein (1917-2004) was a professor of American History at the University of Tennessee. He also served with the 14th Air Force in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. Dr. Klein remained in the United States Air Force Reserve and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Series Description

The collection arrived in poor condition and was initially processed with only a container list as description. Due to a change of the content management system, further description proved to be necessary.

The Milton Klein Photograph Collection was donated to the History of Aviation Collection, Special Collections and Archives Division, Eugene McDermott Library, The University of Texas at Dallas, by Milton Klein on 1979-07-01.
