Biographical Sketch
Louis Alexander was a pilot and jouranlist working for more than two decades for various journals specializing in aviation.
During World War II, he flew combat and transport missions for the United States Army Air Forces. After the war, Alexander was an instructor for private flying schools. He continued to served as an instructor during the Korean War.
After his services, Alexander became a reporter working for The Houston Chronilce and did free-lance work for Flying, Air Force to name a few.
In the 1960s, Alexander taught journalism at the Universtiy of Houston.

Abstract
The Louis Alexander Collection contains information regarding the technology of many corporations including Chance-Vought Aircraft, Inc., Lockheed Co., Chrysler Corp., General Electric Co., Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and others. It also contains documents related to NASA projects.
Series Description
The archivist kept the original organization intact without any further arrangement.
Provenance Statement
The Louis Alexander Collection was donated to the History of Aviation Archives, Special Collections and Archives Division, Eugene McDermott Library, The University of Texas at Dallas, by Louis Alexander in multiple accessions from 1963 through 1989.

Material Removed List
1.4 linear ft. (one record center box and one manuscript box) of duplicate materials, clippings and damaged documents that were photocopied onto acid-free paper as well as private documents and photographs that were not pertinent to the collection have been de-accessioned and were sent to recycling.
