Biographical Sketch

Alvin D. Niemeyer was born in Denison, Texas. He barnstormed in a Jenny in the eary 1920s, then sold Air Kings between 1927 and 1928. Niemeyer joined Robertson, later Universal in 1929. In the mid-1930s, in Central America, he flew dynamite to mines and ore concentrate out. During the late 1930s and 1940s, Niemeyer served in the Bureau of Air Commerce as Air Carrier Inspector. He joined North Central Airlines and retired in 1966 as Senior Vice President-Operations.

Abstract

The collection contains photographs, a scrapbook, correspondence, radiograms, log books, Niemeyer's pilot's license, ephemera, patents, clippings, and moving film.

Series Description

The archivist kept the original organization intact without any further arrangement.

The Alvin D. Niemeyer Collection was donated to the History of Aviation Archives, Special Collections and Archives Division, Eugene McDermott Library, The University of Texas at Dallas by Florine D. Niemeyer on 1979-12-18.
