Biographical Sketch

Mr. A. J. “Sam” Uhl resided in Rockport, Texas at the time he gave his photograph collection to Mr. E. E. Dunsworth in 1999. According to Mr. Dunsworth, Mr. Uhl collected model airplanes and enjoyed photography.

Some of the pictures in the collection are stamped with the name Uhl Parachute Service indicating that he may have operated a parachute service at one time, but according to Mr. Dunsworth, Mr. Uhl was not a pilot.

Provenance Statement

The A. J. "Sam" Uhl Aviation Photograph Collection was given to Mr. E. E. Dunsworth in 1999 by Mr. Uhl. The collection was donated to the History of Aviation Archives, Special Collections and Archives Division, Eugene McDermott Library, The University of Texas at Dallas, by Mr. Dunsworth on 2004-09-14.
