Historical Sketch

Established in 1979, the Andrew R. Cecil Lecture Series on Moral Values in a Free Society brings scholars and experts to The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) to lecture on a topic of interest or their work. The lecture series began as a collaboration between UTD and Dr. Andrew R. Cecil, a Scholar in Residence at UTD. Dr. Cecil created the lecture series to explore topics such as ethics, moral philosophy, religion, society, culture, and the ways they interact with each other. Dr. Cecil gave the first lecture in 1979, and spoke in the lecture series until his death in 1996.

The Archivist kept the original organization intact without any further arrangement.
