Abstract Established in 1979, the Andrew R. Cecil Lecture Series on Moral Values in a Free Society brings scholars and experts to The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) to lecture on a topic of interest or their work. The lecture series began as a collaboration between UTD and Dr. Andrew R. Cecil, a Scholar in Residence at UTD. Dr. Cecil created the lecture series to explore topics such as ethics, moral philosophy, religion, society, culture, and the ways they interact with each other.

Abstract Held annually from 1957-1986 the Dallas-based department store chain Neiman Marcus presented an event called the Fortnight. Occurring in late October, or November this celebration presented fashion shows, cultural events, film screenings, galas, and other events themed after a specific country.
