Augustus M. Brenneke, also known as Gus, served with the 28th Squadron of the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. He received his training at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas and served as a flight instructor at Benbrook Field in Fort Worth, Texas, (also known as Taliaferro No. 2) and Carruthers Field.

Royal W.B. Cowan was born in 1898 in New York, NY. He arrived in Dallas, Texas to undergo United States Army Air Service Training at Love Field in 1916. He served with distinction in the First World War, earning a Silver Star for action with the 24th Aero Squadron. He founded the Southwest Printing Company, and passed away in Dallas on May 8th, 1989.

His idea for a shorter, more direct route from the United States to Europe through the Great Circle Route in the arctic led to his famous emergency landing on the Greenland ice cap in 1928. Frank M. Hawks was a World War I aviator, barnstormer, and speed record pilot in the 1920s and 1930s. He was sponsored by the Texaco Corporation and promoted their fuel services across the country. He also starred in a 1937 motion picture serial titled The Mysterious Pilot. He was killed while testing an experimental aircraft in 1938.
