Charles Wayne Kerwood was an American who flew with the Lafayette Escadrille in World War I. He also commanded the Greek Royal Air Force in the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922), and lead a Volunteer American Squadron in support of the French-Spanish Campaign against the Berber Tribes of the North African Rif (1920-1927).

Robert E. Lee (1896-1973) was a pioneer aviator from Midland, Texas. During World War I, Lee was in command of the 47th Aero Squadron of the United States Army Air Service, and in World War II, he served as commander of the 55th Air Depot in Des Moines, Iowa for the Army Air Force. After the war he became involved in the oil business and invented a new type of drill bit.

Ormer Locklear, born on October 28, 1891 in Greenville, Texas, learned to fly in the United States Army Aviation Service during World War I. On leaving the military after the Armistice in 1919, Locklear flew around the country pioneering a number of barnstorming feats including the wing walk, and the midair transfer from one plane to another. His fame as a stunt pilot brought him to Hollywood where he completed one film, before being tragically killed during a stunt on his second movie in 1920....
