Abstract

Keith Khale (1909-1997) was an airline owner and aviation figure who founded and headed Central Airlines from 1949 until 1963 when he was fired. Khale was also active in politics for the Democratic Party in Oklahoma and Texas, campaigning and fundraising for United States Representative Jim Wright.

Abstract

Kaj L. Nielsen was a mathematician who pursued various professional and academic careers, distinguishing himself at Chance Vought Aircraft as a member of the design teams that developed the Vought F4U Corsair and Vought V-173 Flying Pancake. The bulk of the collection contains his engineering notes for the development of the propellers for the Vought V-173.

Abstract The Vought Aircraft Company is the second oldest aircraft manufacturing company in the United States. They were established in 1917 by Chance Milton Vought, a young aeronautical engineer and aviation pioneer. Over the years they have designed and produced many famous and highly successful aircraft. In the late 1940s, the company moved its headquarters to Dallas, Texas. The Vought Company has merged and separated several times with other companies since it first started in the early 1900s....
