Lea Abbott Papers

Abstract Lea Abbott was noted as a pioneer airline pilot for Braniff Airlines, active member of Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), and exhibition flyer. This collection contains archival material collected by him pertaining to his career with Braniff, Braniff operational and administrative documents, Air Line Pilots Association documents, and manuals for the operation of early airliners.

James H. Doolittle Papers

Abstract James H. Doolittle is most famous for the planning and implementation of the Tokyo Raid in April 1942, after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. After World War II, he graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a PhD. He was instrumental in founding the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders Association. The James H. Doolittle Papers reflect his activities after the Second World War.

Abstract Paul Liscomb was born in 1916. In 1949, he joined Central Airlines as a pilot. He spent twenty-seven years with Central Airlines, through its merger with Frontier Airlines, retiring in 1976. He passed away in 2012.

Abstract Joseph A. Lopes was a pilot with Air America in the 1970’s. In addition to his job as a pilot Lopes became an active member of the Far East Pilots Association (FEPA). FEPA was a union formed by the pilots of Air America to represent their interests. In 1974 negotiations between Air America and FEPA broke down resulting in a strike by the Air America Pilots.
