He received his training at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas and served as a flight instructor at Benbrook Field in Fort Worth, Texas, (also known as Taliaferro No. 2) and Carruthers Field.

Elliott’s career spans the genesis of the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA), from the Bureau of Lighthouses through the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) to the FAA in the 1960’s.

William G. Fuller was the first manager of Meacham Field in Fort Worth, TX. He was appointed to the post in 1927 and remained active in North Texas aviation throughout his life, from being Vice President of Globe Aircraft Company, to the Director of Aviation of Fort Worth and later Grand Prairie. The collection contains archival material collected by him, including personal and business papers and other materials accrued throughout his career in civil and military aviation.

Abstract Frank N. Graves enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and trained as a pilot, receiving his wings at Kelly Field, Texas, later the same year. Robin David Steward Higham, a Harvard graduate, was a pilot during World War II and an instructor at the University of Massachusetts from 1954-1957, an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina from 1957-1963, and a Professor of History at Kansas State University beginning in 1963. His career at Kansas State University spanned from 1963-1999. He wrote numerous books and articles focusing on aviation, military, and geo-political subjects.

James Harold "Stormy" Mangham was a pioneer aviator and barnstormer born in 1907. In 1932, he purchased land in North Richland Hills, Texas to serve as a home, ranch, and private airfield. In 1954, he opened his private airfield to public use as Mangham Airport, which closed in 1986. Mangham, in addition to being a pilot, was also involved in setting motorcycle speed records. He passed away in 1974.
