Richard Duiven was a well-known scholar of World War I aviation, writing several books and articles on the German Air Service in World War I, as well as serving as editor/author of the "Mentioned in Dispatches" column for the journal Over the Front.

William J. McClanahan Collection
William J. McClanahan was a newspaper journalist at the Dallas Morning News, and in the 1930s was a sports-reporter for other local news outlets. During World War II, he worked for the United States Army Air Corps Flight Safety Office. After being discharged in 1946, he returned to the Dallas Morning News to write, edit and draw cartoons.
